New line of all AA dolls

Mr Special Sparkles of thedollcafe posted this article
I think its great, finally more AA dolls but I guess there need to be an Asian American president or something major for Mattel to produce Asian dolls. There are no Asian dolls whatsoever...
I'm very curious to see this new line, hopefully one of the dolls will be dark. The Nikis out there look alike, so I got some Janay dolls to spice up the variety in my collection.

EDIT: the article was deleted so I'll paste it here

NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- Mattel Inc. (MAT) will launch its first complete line of African-American Barbie dolls, a company representative said Thursday.

The line, which features three adult dolls, was previewed in a video at the Mattel and Fisher-Price Sneak-Peak Tour in New York one day after America's first African-American president, Barack Obama, took office.

The "So in Style" dolls, expected to be released in fall 2009, come with little sisters as part of a mentorship theme.

The company has shown the dolls to prominent women in the African-American community to ensure their authenticity and in an effort to possibly recruit a spokesperson for the new line, the Mattel representative said. The company wouldn't release the names of the women it consulted.

While Obama's election shows a diminishing racial divide in America, the company representative said, the doll line was conceived prior to Obama's announcement that he intended to run for office.
(Prior? I don't believe that, AA dolls are often ignored like Kens. The current Fashion Fever line dont have any AA. Why start this now? Its no coincidence, I belive the line was created because of Obama)

The line was inspired by Mattel toy designer Stacey McBride. The price of the new line will be in the same range as other Barbie lines.

The line differs from the company's prior releases of African-American toys, in part, because of its facial features. As an example, the toys have fuller lips and different cheek bone placement and nose structure.

The company has shown the line to several retailers and said many have responded well, the company said.

Fashion Fever Courtney

Love this doll, but hate her dry fluffy hair. Now she looks great with her new saran hair.
I styled her like how she originally came but with more of a red tone.

I'm planning to reroot all my favorite dolls that has kanekalon hair.

The Best Doll of 2008

Toys r us exclusive Barbie for President 2008 Asian version

To me she is the BEST of 2008! Its sad that this is the only Asian doll available in play line

I re-rooted my extra Lea, gave her a 3 mix of brown colors. I was about to give her bangs but decided not to at the last minute. The color is actually lighter than what it shows in the picture.
