I keep getting messages about this lovely doll, Asian Barbie for President has been off the shelves a long time ago. She was sold out before the other 3 versions and was never restock! I cant find her anymore and I love the ones I have! Sorry guys, they are not for sale.
The FAO Schwarz asian doll looks just like her, but with longer hair.

do you think she sold out so quickly because she's popular or because there were so few of her to begin with? hmmm...
I think it was because she was so popular and was the only asian doll available at the time! TRU.com sells out quickly too, she was the 1st to go! I kept checking, waiting to order more... At the store I went through about 30 Leas, picking out the best ones. There were as many Lea as Niki,so I think they came in the same box? Of course Barbie and Teresa were loaded and soon clearance out ;-)
I bought the Asian versions of the last two Barbie for President dolls (2008 and 2004) as soon as I saw them because I doubted they would be there when I returned. Asian Barbies tend to sell quickly.
Would be interesting to have a breakdown of how many dolls - in a multiple raced series like Barbie for President - Mattel makes for each ethnic group.
I notice that there isn't a Mari on your site. I like the doll's face and can't figure out why it has only been used once They also did a Mulan face that wasn't smiling but they only used it once too.
I just acquire a Mari last year, I just dont have anything that fit her. My friend just gave me her head so Im gonna re-root her soon! ;-)
The current Mulan dolls are smiling, the older ones are open mouth smiles with teeth showing. Thats all I know of...
I like Mari's hair color but I am interested to see what your will do! She is smaller Teen Skipper and Francie size. I have found a few things from the dollar store too that will fit. As for Mulan. I will post some pictures for you on my blog. So check it out!
I got 2 Maris to do, gave them a articulated "hobbit" body. The legs on their original bodies are so sticky! I need to get things in order before a photo shoot.
