Acetone Horror!!!
Well my friend tried to shrink her my scene doll head and it turned out pretty awful. she used a head she didnt mind losing if it turned out bad. followed all the instuctions posted on many customizing websites. within 3 minutes of the head being soaked in the acetone it turned into that!!! oh the horror!! when the head was pulled out it was in 3 pieces and very soft and the parts were 2 times bigger,as if swollen. now i dont know if it is that my scene heads are too soft but beware wanna be customizers. do not try this at home ;)
poor barbie :(

I had never read you could shrink the head! I might have tried it too if I had read something about it before. Thanks for letting me know what could happen.
It's My Scene Soup! How horrible.
Thanks for sharing this information and the zapper photograph. I had read about using acetone to shrink a doll's head, but I had never tried it. Whew! I don't hate any doll head that much! Shudder.
i just hope this post can save one poor barbie from this fate . thank you everyone for your comments :)
Apparently you're not supposed to use 100% pure acetone, but a mixture of water and acetone. Probably about half and half, but 20% acetone will do the trick, however takes twice as long as it should so probably 40-50% would be about right. I haven't tried this yet but I will give it a go. :p
It's a pity that you took the head out of the acetone. Heads tend to get bigger at first and they look as if they were swallen but later the method really works fine.
